EuroCommerce is a leading European business federation and the principal voice for retail and wholesale in Brussels ( We are a team of 20 policy and advocacy professionals working on a fascinating and diverse set of issues and projects for retailers and wholesalers. In order to strengthen our team, we are currently looking for a:

Adviser, Single Market

Working with members and the staff team, the Adviser for Single Market will coordinate and drive EuroCommerce’s actions towards the EU institutions, and other stakeholders on creating a competitive and innovative environment which benefits consumers, retailers and wholesalers.

Your responsibilities

  • Monitoring single market policy & legislative developments
  • Ensuring that EuroCommerce members are properly informed on new single market developments and initiatives
  • Work with EuroCommerce members, key stakeholders, and EU institutions to ensure that the interests of retail and wholesale are understood and reflected in policy decisions
  • Building consensus among members and formulating positions with members on priority issues and designing strategic action to take forward retailer and wholesaler interests in single market policy
  • As a member of a team of three, support and manage the EuroCommerce Internal Market & Consumer Affairs Committee
  • Support and manage the country teams focused on issues in Central and Eastern Europe
  • Together with the EuroCommerce Advocacy team, developing advocacy plans and lead advocacy activities on the basis of agreed positions
  • Internal and external communications, working with the Advocacy and Comms team, designing and organising events; ensuring EuroCommerce representation in external events

Your profile

We are looking for an enthusiastic young colleague, a team player who can also work independently who will enjoy working closely with EuroCommerce members from all over Europe and the EuroCommerce team to further the interests of the sector. You have

  • A relevant degree and professional experience
  • An interest in EU policy and preferably affinity with single market issues (e.g., free movement of goods, free movement of services, governance of the Single Market)
  • Strong writing, presentation and analytical skills
  • High energy and ability to deliver results in a demanding environment with tight deadlines;
  • Proactive and able to work autonomously;
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong working relations with EuroCommerce members and other outside stakeholders;
  • Strong communication skills in written and spoken English; good knowledge of other European languages an asset;
