THE OPPORTUNITY
Job Summary:
The Assistant Manager, The Nest supports the daily operations of this housing program and works to ensure a positive, safe, well maintained, and healthy building environment. The position is responsible for program oversight; facilities management; case management; and community relations.
Located at 13620 80th Avenue, Surrey, The Nest is a three-storey modular building with 40 studio units and provides on-site staff and support services for residents 24/7, including meal programs, life and employment skills training, health and wellness support services and opportunities for volunteer work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work to ensure a safe, well maintained, and healthy building environment
Effectively coordinate, supervise and is accountable for the daily operations of Program Assistants, kitchen team, peer support worker and practicum student program to ensure operational quality requirements and standards of excellence are always maintained
Monitor the movements of residents within the building to ensure that areas are used for the purpose for which they were designed
Supervise incoming and outgoing inspections (suite, kitchen, staff areas) and reporting
Attend neighbourhood group meetings (CAC as required)
Liaise with partner agency and respond to inquiries
Participate in case management and support as necessary
Maintain and oversee calendar of recreational activities within the building
Facilitate the intake/discharge process for new residents moving in/out of The Nest
Provide supervision, coaching and assistance to staff in the completion of daily operating tasks and routines in The Nest staffing model
Support hiring, orientation, training, supervision and evaluation of new employees, volunteers and practicum students on shift responsibilities and routines
Ensure that all documentation for shift tasks, responsibilities and routines are completed Act as a positive role model for clients. Teach clients effective social and interpersonal skills through tasks of appropriate daily living and social activities
Act as an advocate for residents during their stay
THE CANDIDATE
Qualifications
Post-secondary diploma in counselling, social work, community services or equivalent.
3 to 5 years of experience working with marginalized populations, homelessness, substance use services, mental health, corrections or equivalent.
Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening is required
Satisfactory completion of Employee Immunization Record form is required
First Aid 1 and Current CPR certificate is required
Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required, with Driver’s abstract
