Summary of Job Duties:

The School of Social Work at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock invites applications for a tenure-track, nine (9) month academic position at the Assistant Professor rank. The school particularly invites and encourages applications from members of underrepresented groups. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications. We seek faculty who are committed to teaching, research, scholarly publication, and public service. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Ph.D. in social work or closely related social science (ABD will be considered);
  • Experience designing/teaching core social work education courses;
  • Active research agenda that promotes social, racial, and economic justice.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • 2-3 years of practice experience in social work;
  • Experience designing online social work courses.

Job Duties:

  • Maintain an active scholarly agenda based in social work practice;
  • Prepare and manage BSW & MSW courses employing contemporary pedagogy;
  • Teach online, hybrid, and face-to-face classes;
  • Provide advising support to a caseload of MSW/BSW Students;
  • Actively engage in service that supports the School, the College, the University, and the community;
  • Teach Core social work education courses;
  • Operate as a lead instructor in a core social work course or courses.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to engage students in courses in the classroom and online;
  • Knowledge of social policy, advocacy, and/or community organization;
  • An understanding of how macro systems inform micro-level practice, research, and social work education;
  • Knowledge of contemporary theories of social work practice;
  • Ability to conduct and disseminate scientific research;
  • Knowledge of social work values and ethics, including the NASW Code of Ethics;
  • Willingness to adapt courses to Blackboard and Adobe Connect platforms;
  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and administration.

Salary Information:

$61,889
