Job Title: Spanish Translator
Employment Type: Part-time (20 hrs./week)
Citizens’ Climate is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy climate change organization focused on national policies to address climate change.

Citizens’ Climate Lobby/Education (CCL/CCE) works to build political will for a livable world. In order to achieve this vision, the organization engages with volunteers from all backgrounds, all across the country. We want to continue to expand our Spanish Language Communications by expanding the content of our Spanish-Language website and increasing our written content, and social media material. Our goal is to expand our volunteer base to embrace volunteers who feel more comfortable communicating in Spanish.
The interested applicant can produce a large amount of content from social and print media to materials for grassroots outreach, to educational materials on the impacts of climate, policy solutions, and advocacy training.
Provide accurate translations of written texts from different sources including, press releases, news, web pages, social media, and other sources as needed
Work with colleagues in several departments (Communications, Marketing, Diversity and Inclusion, Development, Technology, and Programs) to ensure that translations are true to the original meaning
Update our Spanish-Language website (climavivible.org) as needed
Help the D&I Director with the management of social spaces in Spanish on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok
Attend the Latinos Action Team monthly meeting to meet with volunteers and learn what information is needed in Spanish throughout each month
1-3 years of experience preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must be able to work in the United States
WordPress experience preferred
Bilingual or multilingual proficiency preferred
Familiarity with various Spanish dialects in the United States
Understanding of familiar vs formal Spanish
Social Media Management is highly recommended, but not required
Video experience desired
Dubbing experience desired
$30 per hour. Benefits for a part-time position include paid vacation time, sick leave, paid holidays, and a 401K retirement plan. A maximum of two weeks of vacation time can be accrued in the first year based on hours worked. An additional week of vacation is accrued after one year of employment with Citizens’ Climate.
20 hours per week. This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Evening and weekend hours may be necessary when working with volunteers and staff across multiple time zones. Occasional travel might be expected when the organization resumes traditional operations.
