Position Summary Information

Advertisement The Facilities Department at St. Catherine University invites applications for a full-time Custodian position. This position is scheduled to work Sunday – Thurs from 7:30am -4:00pm.
Our Custodians provide a clean, healthy, and attractive environment for our college students, faculty, staffs, and guests. In addition, our team assists in reporting maintenance and safety concerns as they are noticed. Custodians who work 2nd and 3rd shift receive a shift differential.. 
Responsibilities include:

  • Check keys in/out without Lead.
  • Communicate with Lead on the days activities and any special needs to be completed.
  • Prioritize work based on communication with Lead
  • Perform general and detail cleaning of offices, classrooms, dorm rooms, restrooms/showers, common areas, lounges, kitchens, sports facilities, etc., depending on work assignment.
  • Take care of assigned area daily following specific schedules, but must be flexible to the needs of the college and fill in for absent staff and assist others when needed.
  • Remove trash and recycling.
  • Dust/wash all types of surfaces.
  • Dust mop/ vacuum/sweep and damp mop, all types of hard floors, and all fixtures.
  • Vacuum carpeted flooring and stairs.
  • Remove spots/stains from carpet as needed.
  • Dust, damp wipe and vacuum furniture as needed.
  • Restroom/ shower cleaning: all surfaces, walls, ceilings, lights, floors, and all fixtures.
  • Seasonal snow/ice removal.
  • Report all problems or repairs to the supervisor, or put in work orders into ServiceNow work request system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required 1 year minimum in institutional cleaning . Preferred 2-3 years cleaning experience.
Able to pass a criminal background check in order to carry college keys.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Have a positive and energetic attitude
  • Must be able to read and understand product information labels, SDS sheets, work orders, written instructions, etc.
  • Able to work independently and as a member of a team to carry out work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Able to work collaboratively with team and create positive working relationships with co-workers.
  • Able to use all types of custodial equipment needed in your area to complete the work properly and efficiently depending on the needs of the area such as: vacuum cleaners, back pack vacuums, auto scrubbers, pressure washers, shower cleaning systems, extension poles, ladders.
