Franklin University is currently seeking a student with Federal Work Study eligibility to fill the role of Department of Safety and Security Services Federal Work Study Assistant. The Department of Safety and Security Services (DSSS) Federal Work Study Assistant will support the DSSS with various aspects of the department’s operations. In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for assisting with routine campus safety and security monitoring and patrols, administrative and dispatching functions, department inquiry response, emergency preparedness activities including exercise and drill development and implementation, access control management, incident reporting, relevant compliance enforcement functions, and fire/life safety apparatus maintenance.

The selected candidate will also be responsible for participating as needed in department research activities and training including introductory courses in the Incident Command System, First Responder/CPR/AED training, Active Shooter Emergency Response, and Emergency Notification/Timely Warning systems.

Candidates must be a current Franklin University student in good standing with Federal Work Study eligibility. Applicants should possess and demonstrate a strong interest in physical security and emergency management, excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and have previous experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office suite. Candidate should be able to work up to 24 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend hours required. The position requires a high level of visibility and frequent interaction with Franklin University students, faculty, and staff.
