St. Gallen Endowment for Prosperity Through Trade

Digital Policy Analysts
June-September 2022 (full-time, remote)

The St. Gallen Endowment for Prosperity Through Trade (SGEPT) is a rapidly growing remote-working organisation with a team of 38 experts located in a dozen countries. Our foundational initiative, the Global Trade Alert, was created in 2009 and has become an international flagship for transparency and analysis on trade policy worldwide. In 2021, we launched the Digital Policy Alert to improve the regulation of the digital economy. Our initiatives are internationally recognised sources of insight for policymakers, corporate decision-makers, analysts, and journalists. We have big plans.

In the summer of 2022, the DPA conducts an implementation study for the digital policy chapter of a regional trade agreement. We are looking for additional team members to document recent digital policy legislation in a range of Asian and Latin American jurisdictions.

The Digital Policy Analysts will produce concise English descriptions of such legislation for rapid publication and classify it according to the DPA taxonomy. To do so, the analysts will independently process a news stream of developments in digital policy and actively coordinate with their fellow team members to ensure comprehensive coverage. We are looking for candidates who

  • have a demonstrated interest in the relevant policy areas including digital trade law, privacy law, copyright law, competition law, or taxation,
  • are proficient in English and at least one additional UN official language,
  • have developed excellent communication and drafting skills in English, and who
  • are able to independently organise their work from a remote location.

These are paid positions for entry-level professionals or early-career consultants/freelancers. Extensions beyond the project on a part-time basis are possible. Current Master’s students with prior work experience are particularly encouraged to apply. Our collaboration starts at your earliest convenience, at the latest on 15 June 2022.

Applications are considered on a continuing basis until the positions are filled for rapid integration into the existing team. To start the application process, please submit a motivational statement and your CV to [email protected]
