The European Association of Manufacturing Technologies (CECIMO) is looking for a new staff member to join its Brussels-based team.

About the Association

Founded in 1950, CECIMO represents worldwide the common interests and values of the European manufacturers of this key enabling technology. CECIMO is the European platform which identifies and promotes strategic initiatives to improve the global competitiveness and leadership of the European Advanced Manufacturing Industry.

CECIMO is specialised in EU regulatory and policy issues, mainly in the field of trade, foreign investment, industrial policy, circular economy, research & innovation, skills and education. Furtheremore, CECIMO deals with other relevant issues, such as Smart Manufacturing, Factory of the Future, Internet of Things, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, CyberSecurity and 3D printing or Additive Manufacturing.

Tasks:

  • Updating and developing economic and statistical reports for the machine tool and additive manufacturing sectors.
  • Aggregating large data sets from various sources (national associations, statistical offices, World Bank, European Commission, Oxford Economics, ITC, Eurostat, etc.).
  • Developing and regularly updating interactive statistical dashboards using the Google Data Studio platform.
  • Development of short-term demand forecasting models,
  • Research on various demand topics, mostly related to the machine tool market, additive manufacturing market, trade, etc. Also support to member associations for specific market surveys (emerging markets and/or new industrial segments),
  • Occasional revision of European and international nomenclatures for the sector, i.e. working closely with European Commission officials (Eurostat, DG TAXUD) on various classification codes.
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of relevant EU policies, particularly in the area of trade, but also in the context of the global crisis, geopolitical tensions, etc., in order to analyse their impact on the sector.
  • Organisation of international economic and statistical meetings with statisticians from CECIMO and overseas associations.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • University degree in economics.
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant in experience in industry, banking, administration,  institutions, think thanks, trade associations or consultancies.
  • Ability to produce complex, clear and aesthetic graphics. Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is a must. Familiarity with MS Access and infographics software is an advantage.
  • Experience of using interactive reporting platforms such as Google Data Studio and Power BI is an advantage.
  • Experience of using SPSS or other statistical software would be an advantage.
  • Interest in European policies, in particular trade, internal market, economic and monetary policies.
  • Comfortable with producing and interpreting statistics and indicators for strategic and economic messages.
  • Ability to organise work on sectoral data and macroeconomic indicators.
  • Analytical and organisational skills.
  • Autonomy and ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) including strong public speaking abilities.
  • Ability to explain complex economic concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • English is the working language; knowledge of another European language is a strong asset.
