Position description

The incumbent works as part of a multi-disciplinary team conducting research, analyzing data and information, and synthesizing information on Global Affairs Canada programs, policies and initiatives. The incumbent contributes to the creation of evaluation reports and learning products that support accountability and learning within the department. Other tasks may include supporting departmental exercises and evaluation practice, and providing additional research expertise focused on applying knowledge to inform decision-making. The incumbent is a valued member of a dynamic team who is passionate about the departmental mandate and priorities.

Intent of the process 

The intent of this process is to staff 7 bilingual EC-04 positions on an indeterminate or determinate basis depending on the business requirements.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to fill similar positions at Global Affairs Canada with various language profiles and/or requirements, and the duration may vary depending on the position being filled.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications) 

 

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

NOTE: Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

 

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience conducting quantitative or qualitative research studies.

 

• Recent experience* in preparing briefing materials (for ex. briefing notes, presentations, reports, or other communication tools) in a professional setting.

 

• Recent experience* working with or within an interdisciplinary team in a professional setting.

* Recent experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience that would normally be acquired within the last three (3) years.

 

COMPETENCIES:

ASSET EDUCATION:
• Graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a relevant field.

 

ASSET EXPERIENCE:
• Experience contributing to various phases of program evaluations (planning, conducting, analyzing and reporting).

 

• Experience using data visualization to effectively communicate information.

 

• Experience working with files on development or foreign or international affairs.

 

• Experience in developing communications and training products.

 

• Experience supporting operational processes (e.g., developing processes, procedures, guidance or tools related to information management, contracting activities, procurement or assessment practices).

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice.
Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
