Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) – persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice.  These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

Additional Information:

Position: Assistant Professor in Higher Education and Student Affairs, 9-month, tenure-track faculty position in the Higher Education and Student Affairs Program in the Department of Educational Studies.

Qualifications: The position requires the candidate to demonstrate strong potential to gain a national and/or international scholarly reputation as evidenced in part by development of a strong publication record. Evidence of effort toward obtaining internal and external funded research, knowledge of methodological approaches, and potential to build partnerships with national and local constituents will also be viewed as strengths. We also seek a candidate who has experience that includes social justice, equity and demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from minoritized backgrounds. 

The candidate must meet the following required qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in the field of Higher Education or a related field;
  • A record of research and scholarship consistent with an appointment at the rank of assistant professor at The Ohio State University;
  • Potential to teach, advise, and mentor master’s, Ed.D., and/or Ph.D. students.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be a scholar with potential to develop a national and/or international reputation in the field of higher education and provide intellectual and practice-oriented leadership addressing the challenges facing contemporary education. Responsibilities include conducting and publishing research in top-tier journals; securing internal/external funding to support their research; teaching graduate and/or undergraduate courses; directing master’s, Ed.D., and/or Ph.D. students; engaging in curriculum development; providing support for program growth; and, providing service to the department, college, university, and academic and practice communities.
