The Position

The Global Programs and Innovation Senior Officer will be part of MicroMentor’s Programs and Innovation team and will be responsible for developing and managing strategic and impactful partnerships to achieve MicroMentor’s programmatic goals. The Global Programs & Innovation Senior Program Officer will manage a portfolio of partnerships inclusive of massive entrepreneurial platforms like e-commerce, financial, and education/content for entrepreneurs, and will ensure high-quality deliverables and account management for these partners.

Essential Job Functions

PARTNERSHIP & PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

  • Lead initial conversations with prospective partners to introduce MicroMentor and assess fit for the collaboration.
  • Ideate program design for prospective partners and develop concept notes and proposals in coordination with Revenue Department.
  • Manage complex programs and partnerships, with decision making authority over design, implementation, and budget management.
  • Ensure partner success by leading high-quality program implementation, following detailed work plans and ensuring close coordination with MicroMentor teams to deliver on planned commitments.
  • Typical partnership responsibilities include leading bi-weekly meetings or weekly check-ins to ensure project progress is on time, target and budget.
  • Ensure that program implementation is responsive to partners and consistent with Mercy Corps’ and MicroMentor’s relevant program guidelines, principles, values, quality standards, and strategic plans.
  • Guides and supports the implementation of all project and program activities providing affirming feedback, highlighting strengths and weaknesses, and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Build strong relationships and extensive network with Mercy Corps HQ teams and country team partners, establishing shared values and clear communication.
  • Adhere to Mercy Corps’ Program Management Minimum Standards.
  • Ensure all interventions adhere to Mercy Corps’ Gender Policy, Do No Harm principles, and beneficiary accountability standards.
  • Provide technical expertise through training, mentoring, or coaching for the MicroMentor team.
  • Manage documentation of implemented activities including (as needed) meeting minutes, photos, case studies, and donor/partner reports.

INNOVATION

  • Design and implement pilot activities in partnership with correct MicroMentor departments, and in alignment with the MicroMentor’s North Star and compass objectives.
  • Conduct pilot project data analysis, provide regular progress reports and manage learning outputs and integration.
  • Conduct user research when appropriate, and present results. User research will be informing Marketing, program design, and Product.
  • Lead meetings with cross-functional teams to report lessons learned and identify opportunities for lesson integration and pivots.

STRATEGIC PLANNING

  • Support the operationalization of MicroMentor’s strategic framework via program design, implementation, and innovation.
  • Establish catalytic partnerships in support of MicroMentor’s scale goals.

INTERNAL COMMUNICATION AND KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT

  • Support internal communications and ensure knowledge management systems are up to date and accurate to support communication with other teams.
  • Ensure management of agency systems and adherence to HQ-related Program Management minimum standards.
  • Adhere to retention policies with the central filing of program files in agency servers.

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field – Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Global Development (Master’s Degree is preferred)
  • At least 5 years of program management experience
  • Proven business development experience with corporate partners, with preference for experience with e-commerce, financial services, and education/content for entrepreneurs
  • Proven experience managing complex partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships
  • Strong team player and communicator
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Fluency in English
  • Passionate about entrepreneurship and the role of small businesses in economic development
  • Applied experience in implementing innovative solutions and achieving results
  • Experience designing programs with successful results
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative
  • A problem-solver, adept in successfully dealing with issues of complexity
  • Strong analytical skills, and ability to synthesize complex information
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required
