The University of Hull is seeking an enthusiastic, proactive and preferably experienced individual to work within the Information Governance Team.

Reporting to the Data Protection Officer, the role holder will primarily manage and respond to information rights requests under both data protection and freedom of information legislation. The role will also undertake a range of data protection related duties to include embedding data protection by design, promoting a culture of compliance and meeting accountability obligations. This will include Data Protection Privacy Impact Assessments, Data Sharing Agreements, Privacy Notices, Breaches, training and providing advice on related matters.

You will have a good working knowledge of the both the GDPR, Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act 2000 and ideally demonstrable experience of handling and responding to Individual Rights requests. 

Preferably the role holder will hold a qualification in Data Protection and Freedom of Information or possess the equivalent experience. They should be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload working to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and influencing skills and ability to demonstrate resilience.
  • Experience of dealing with a wide range of issues relating to information compliance, reacting confidently and quickly to emerging issues. 
  • Ability to collate and analyse data and review for release applying exemption where necessary and issuing refusal notices.
