The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) is looking for a competent, self-motivated and dynamic individual to join the Lahore office as an It Support Officer. IT Support Officer will be responsible for the smooth running of computer systems, monitor and maintain the computer systems and networks ensuring users are satisfied and get maximum benefits in their projects for IWMI Pakistan office. He/she will also be responsible for installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults and solve technical and application problems.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide first level helpdesk support for IWMI Pakistan staff and work with HQ helpdesk when required.
  • Provisioning of ICT equipment/network connections for IWMI staff and visitors to the office where required.
  • Assist HQ IT team in managing/maintaining servers, firewalls, network, PCs and other IT assets and other IT projects/activities.
  • Ensure the proper implementation of organizational IT policies and guidelines at the office level. This would include
  • Backup management. At client and server level including offsite storage.
  • Antivirus and other software management.
  • Assist office administration staff when making IT purchases by liaising with vendors and the HQ IT and Procurement teams.
  • Setting up of equipment for workshops, seminars and conferences
  • Provide similar IT support services for IWMI Pakistan field offices and report management regarding any issues.
  • Manage delivery of services by vendors.
  • IT asset tracking/management with regular reporting back to the HQ IT team.
  • Support the project teams for IWMI Pakistan office as contact point for all data acquired, disseminated, archived etc. including liaison with IWMI Headquarters with respect to data management, processing, and archive management.

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • A degree in Computer Science, preferably masters’, or a closely related degree or IT industry certifications focusing on a Microsoft Windows focused technologies.
  • At least 5 years’ practical experience of providing IT support, instrumentation installation, troubleshooting functions

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent written and spoken English;
  • Good spoken, written, comprehension of Urdu.
  • Excellent knowledge of Managing windows servers (both local and cloud), Data backup and restoration, Setting up windows client PC’s, Setting up printers including network printers and Troubleshooting the above
  • Excellent knowledge of Connecting and troubleshooting LAN/WLAN issues, Configuring routers, access points, network switches, windows desktops and servers for TCP/IP
  • The ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment;
  • Demonstrated effective teamwork skills;
  • Sound personal organization and priority setting skills; and
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
