This position as Logistics Assistant (Service Delivery) is located in the Shipping Contract Management (SCM) Team of the Service Delivery Unit of the Global Transport Centre in UNICEF Supply Division.

Shipping Contract Management Team is responsible for managing the contracts for UNICEF’s global Shipping and Freight Forwarding requirements, including performance management, freight management, freight calculation tools and control of SD transport processes and procedures to ensure timely and effective delivery of UNICEF supplies from +100 supply countries to +160 receiving countries.

The incumbent will coordinate, and monitor activities related to the global freight forwarding contracts, EDI monitoring, rates management, and carrier collaboration to ensure timely and cost-effective activities, with the overall goal of meeting the needs and requirements of UNICEF assisted programs and Procurement Service customers.



How Can You Make a Difference?

Under the supervision of the Shipping Contracts Specialist in the Shipping Contract Management (SCM) Team, the Logistics Assistant (Service Delivery) performs all activities in compliance with the UNICEF Financial Rules and Regulations, Supply Division Manual, and other applicable procurement procedures in order to ensure timely deliveries including:


  1. Support for the SCM Team – management of the team mailbox, organize regular meetings with internal and external partners, record minutes of meetings and log action points/activities, assist with preparation of documents, updating logs and reports, updating/maintaining SOPs, etc.
  2. Support global freight 3PL contracts management activities. Develop/maintain register of service provider issues, KPI anomalies, deviations from contractual obligations, etc. Participate in regular meetings with services providers, business units, regional/country offices, etc.
  1. Support rates management activities within the team. Air freight submissions occur twice yearly and once per year with mid-year revision of BAF for sea/surface.
  2. Support GTC carrier collaboration activities, liaising and meeting with major carriers to ensure the best conditions for UNICEF in line with SD strategies.
  3. Complaints Focal Point – Monitoring outstanding cases logged with QAC, liaising with, and assisting complaint owners and partners/forwarders to achieve timely closure of cases, quality assurance and insurance teams, registering/updating in the UNICEF CICA system. 
  4. Analyze and monitor forwarder invoice performance on SharePoint – reporting and following up with forwarders, GSSC, TC Data Unit colleagues. Raising anomalies, performance shortfalls and potential service level issues.
  5. Provide support for the biannual reconciliation exercise, verifying statements by FFs, bringing anomalies to the attention of the SCM Team Leader.
  6. Any other duties or assignments as requested by the supervisor.


To qualify as a Champion for every Child you will have…


  • Completion of secondary education with additional training in administrative support and data/reporting or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience in administrative or support roles with knowledge of logistics operations, international shipping, and reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Fluency in English.


  • Knowledge of supply chain and/or logistics
  • Advanced MS Excel knowledge or experience in reporting
  • Knowledge of PowerBI or other business intelligence applications
  • Proficiency in additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish).


NB: UNICEF staff members globally and applicants who are EU nationals or in possession of a valid work permit for Denmark are eligible to apply. General Service (GS) staff are personally responsible for any travel and accommodation arrangements and UNICEF will not cover any costs related to relocation.
