Under the supervision of the UNIDO Project Manager, the consultant provides technical support in the development and monitoring of technical cooperation activities within the project, providing relevant inputs for scoping activities, working in close coordination with the country-level project consultants, and facilitating coordination with the respective field office in Ecuador and India.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring the performance of consultants, tracking progress against the work plan, and verifying the quality and relevance of deliverables ensuring they meet agreed technical specifications.
  • Organize and participate in progress review meetings with consultants and relevant stakeholders.
  • In close coordination with country counterparts (e.g. national coordinators), elaborate mid-year and annual project progress reports. project IRPF reports accordingly.
  • Provide input to communication materials and publications; keep an active attitude to identify visibility opportunities for the project.
  • Provide early warning to the Project Manager if outputs are off track or quality is insufficient and propose corrective actions when necessary.
  • Conduct desk research to collect and analyze relevant information related to each value chain, including market trends, value chain stakeholders, and development challenges related to the project’s areas of interest.
  • Provide analytical inputs and insights to support the definition and refinement of project activities, scope, and objectives based on the more specific selection of the value chain’s segments and stakeholders to be project’s priority targets.
  • Draft Terms of Reference (TORs) for consultancies and technical inputs needed to advance each value chain component. Support recruitment and procurement processes as per UNIDO’s internal procedures.
  • Liaise regularly with designated focal points from KONE and FAZER to gather inputs, clarify needs, and ensure alignment between company priorities and project goals.
  • Maintain records of communications, agreements, and technical discussions related to the scoping process. Provide briefings and summary reports to the Project Manager to support decision-making and planning.

Education:

Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in engineering, sciences, economics, business administration, international relations or other relevant discipline is required.

Work Experience:

  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience supporting project implementation, technical cooperation or development assistance programs, preferably in international or multi-stakeholder settings is required.
  • Proven experience working with or coordinating with the private sector, ideally in relation to sustainability, corporate engagement, or value chain initiatives is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing countries, with an understanding of local contexts, challenges, and stakeholder dynamics is required.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to translate findings into actionable insights is required.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, including the ability to work with multiple stakeholders across sectors and cultures is required.

Languages:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish is required.
  • Fluency and/or working knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
