HuMENA for Human Rights and Civic Engagement
Founded in 2018 on a fundamental commitment to human rights, HuMENA for Human Rights and Civic Engagement seeks to achieve a greater MENA citizens engagement in the policymaking process. HuMENA is an independent advocacy and action organization that challenges the MENA to live up to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Law.
HuMENA for Human Rights and Civic Engagement is a non-profit, nonpartisan international human rights organization registered and based in Brussels, with offices in the MENA region.
A Project team will be based in Beirut to implement the Freedom of Peaceful Assembly project. They will work smoothly with relevant partners in order to reach the following result:
Activities are implemented in line with the logical framework and follow-up is ensured;
Circulation of information is fluid, both internally and externally;
Achievement of the results outlined in the project proposal in coordination with the experts to complete in a timely and successful manner deliverables.
Short-term experts will contribute to the project on an ad-hoc basis, depending on needs expressed by project partners and activities to be implemented.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Project Coordinator will be the “bridge” between the Project’s team and the management team.
He/she/they is responsible for the smooth daily functioning of the project’s office.
He/she/they contributes to the development of the project strategy and ensures that the work plan of activities proposed by the long term experts is consistent with the project strategy.
He/she/they is in charge of consolidating the project progress report, to be then submitted to the senior programs manager.
He/she/they will support the team of experts in planning and budgeting activities and will ensure the follow-up and coordination of activities.
He/she/they is also responsible for ensuring the project’ compliance with the donor’s requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in social development, social sciences, international relations, or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English & Arabic; no exception.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar related job.
- Experience in project implementation, monitoring and report writing.
- Knowledge of key human rights trends in the region and their impact on human rights defenders and their activism.
- Ability to work well with a wide range of people from different cultures, backgrounds, and experiences, with empathy and clear boundaries.
