Avenue Living and its group of companies are looking for an intermediate Public Relations (PR) Specialist to help build and maintain a positive image for our company. Your work, done alongside others in our marketing and sales teams will help pave the paths that allow us to continue to grow our business, show our values, and achieve our higher mission to provide value and quality communities that everyone deserves.

Avenue Living Asset Management, which operates as part of the Avenue Living Group (“Avenue Living”), is a leading Canadian alternative asset manager with over $3 billion in assets under management and four alternative investment products.

You will report directly to our Director of Public Relations and Government Relations and can draw on resourcing from our writing and design teams to action your work. You will be ultimately responsible for sustaining our media relations, actioning our sponsorship strategies, and collaborating with our various marketing and sales teams in promotional activities that include media buying, data analytics, community relations and on occasion, investor communications.

The Public Relations Specialist will support the Director of Public Relations and Government Relations with the following:

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Establishing and maintaining relationships with residents, investors, employees, and public interest groups

Writing/editing press releases, speeches and other media communications

Responding to external requests for information

Building PR programs that help us to maintain favorable public views of the organization’s community support and accomplishments

Working with media vendors and partners to generate thought leadership, grow company awareness and connect customers with our products/services

Generating a voice and presence through both online and offline channels

Working lock step with our digital strategists and client representatives as the broader teams manage crises communications; should incidents ever occur that affect the public or any of our other key stakeholders

Conducting research and using digital software to monitor industry trends and regulations that affect the industry

Ensuring consistent messaging across earned, paid, owned and shared platforms

Evaluating sponsorship opportunities and recommending ideas that will help us elevate our brand and reach

Supporting sales in their collateral needs for networking at industry events

WHAT WILL YOU NEED?

Bachelor’s degree in PR, marketing, or related field with an experience in corporate and/or not-for-profit

Proof of experience in project management and execution of PR campaigns and/or initiatives

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

Aptitude in presentation and public speaking

Deadline-oriented, inquisitive, and comfortable speaking up within a group setting

Ability and comfort pitching concepts to media and industry associations

Full understanding and experience working in both B2B and B2C marketing environments

Familiarity and experience with social media platforms (i.e., LinkedIn and Facebook)

Experience in real estate and/or finance would be considered an asset

Ability to think both creatively and strategically

Comfortable in building programs that can be measured and improved year over year

Understanding of social media and its tie to reputation management

Comfortable being part of the broader crises management response team

Experience managing projects and budgets from start to finish

A desire to be a quick and enthusiastic learner and an ability to work well under pressure

Working knowledge of MS Office; photo and video-editing software is an asset
