Regional Public Engagement Adviser – Middle East Office – For Internal Applicants Only

Job Purpose:

The position holder does this by working with staff across the region to collect, curate and prepare quality content for publication through NRC’s global and regional channels. The focus of this content is around public engagement and fundraising. It is separate from the regional advocacy and media but works closely with those staff when there are synergies.

The role is part of the regional communications team and has a technical line to the Global Public Engagement team at Head Office.

What you will do:

  • Build and implement a strategy to deliver quality photo, video and story content for NRC’s global digital channels, in order to reach engagement and fundraising goals as well as gather high quality images, video and interviews from the region.
  • Work closely with External Relations at Head Office to create common plans for content gathering, production and publishing between Regional Office and Head Office.
  • Build capacity in the region to support public engagement, including ability to collect content (photo, video, interviews) that meets NRC’s global standards and policies
  • Work to secure regional funding and resources for public engagement e.g. through donor grant applications.
  • Contribute to global communications strategies, training material and planning.
  • Ensure the regional implementation of global communications policies and strategies
  • Advise and support on regional crisis communication and preparedness, in particular on social media
  • Support Head Office communication and fundraising activities

Specifically you will;

  • Own Middle East Regional Office (MERO) social media channels and the strategy for using them.
  • Produce and edit content as required for global institutional donor visibility and reporting ensuring that these products as far as possible serve wider communications goals and plans
  • Contribute to management and use of NRC’s Digital Asset Management System (ResourceSpace)
  • Support on regional crisis communications, including social media monitoring.
  • Manage the organisation’s external communication in Arabic
  • Edit videos together with video advisers at Head Office, including using animation and after effects

What you will bring

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in communications including content creation in the region for different target audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience of successfully working across multiple teams and cultures.
  • Field experience from complex emergencies and humanitarian work is desirable.
  • Ability to take quality photographs and video as well as do video and photo editing.
  • Knowledge of interview techniques and ability to interview people in a vulnerable situation in order to amplify their voices and create effective content.
  • Experience in producing social media content and manage social media accounts for brands.
  • Strong ability to organise and deliver trainings and mentor colleagues in a way that raises capacity over time.
  • Field experience from complex emergencies and humanitarian work is desirable.
  • Fluency in both written and verbal English and Arabic is essential
  • Knowledge of the Middle East context is essential

Additional Information:

Duty Station: Amman, Jordan

Duration of contract: 2 years, full-time, in accordance with local labour laws.

Grade 8 in NRC’s grade structure

Reporting line: Regional Head of Advocacy & Communication and technically to Head of Content Production Unit.
