Position Description:

Purpose

Under general supervision provide support for department research through projects, maintenance and communication of data, and execution of laboratory experiments. Carry out experiments under the supervision and support for sponsored research projects.

Primary Functions

  • Design and carry out new experiments under the supervision and operate specialized equipment and software used in research. Perform routine experiments and daily work timely and independently.
  • Collect, analyze and report experimental data with accurate records.
  • Manage and maintain mouse colonies.
  • Carry out assigned duties, such as ordering supply, routine lab maintenance, monitoring compliance, and record keeping, protocol implementation, etc.
  • Assist with team members and the principal investigator to accelerate experiments and research projects.
  • Participate in lab meetings and research collaboration.

Knowledge – Skills – Abilities

Knowledge of Cell biology, neuroscience, biochemistry and records management.

Complex problem solving, critical thinking, time management, and communication/writing skills.

Rodent/mouse handling skills.

Minimum Required Education:               Bachelor’s degree in scientific field

Minimum Required Experience:             No experience required

Preferred Experience:                            Rodent associate research
