The role

The open position is for a Research Trainee for 6 months. The role involves collaborative work on a research project on the function of X-chromosomal gene expression for mouse in vitro germ cell development. The candidate will use CRISPR editing in embryonic stem cells and learn to apply advanced germ cell differentiation system to study the phenotype of gene edited cells. The training will involve molecular biology and tissue engineering techniques, data analysis and presentation.

About the lab

The Payer lab is interested in elucidating the mechanisms of epigenetic reprogramming during embryogenesis, in pluripotent stem cells and in the germ cell lineage. One particular topic of our interest is the dramatic remodelling of the mammalian X chromosome in females from an inactive to an active state during a process called X-chromosome reactivation. We thereby apply a multitude of in vivo and in vitro model systems, which allows us to interrogate this process and it’s link to pluripotency and germ cell development. The work environment at the CRG consists of a dynamic, international research Institute in Barcelona (Spain) and English is the working language.
