Org. Setting and Reporting
The incumbent reports to the Assistant Operations Officer, G 13.
In accordance with established policy and procedures, the incumbent:
(A) Is responsible for issuing an accurate daily incident report to contribute to the data base by following different sources of media, social media and confirming refugee status of Palestinians affected. Actively gathers information and verifies data points by contacting community contacts and institutions directly.
(B) Is responsible, in cooperation with Protection and Neutrality staff, for maintaining continuity of communications with UNRWA staff in the West Bank, information on movement of staff, security incidents, access constraints and threats;
(C) Oversees and operates the available radio and communication systems and telephone lines ensuring that incoming and outgoing messages are properly and promptly registered and incoming and transmitted as required;
(D) Ensures that standard operating procedures and instructions from the Field Office for informing staff members in the field are followed up promptly and accurately;
(E) Ensures that computerized logs of staff movements and incidents across the Field are properly maintained; reports on the occurring access problems and follows up with ACU who liaise with the local authorities; directly informs field teams about ongoing incidents requiring immediate attention;
(F) Ensures that records and lists of essential telephone numbers and contact information are properly updated, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information;
(G) Maintains contact with the UNDSS Communications Room in the West Bank, liaising on regular intervals;
(H) Delivers a morning briefing in-person to the Protection and Neutrality team summarizing the daily incident report.
(I) Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
You will need to demonstrate the following competencies:
(i) Maturity, ability to manage stress and maintain confidentiality;
(ii) Sound judgment and positive attitude;
(iii) Computer literate.
A university degree in social sciences or any other related field.
At least four years of experience required in functions related to the main mentioned responsibilities above.
Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic.

* Conditions of service
-Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment
– Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of
further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing
Monthly basic salary USD1,259.40, payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate, plus an allowance of 1000 NIS payable in JD at UNRWA rate.
Other benefits include:
• Provident Fund contribution (15.2% of basic salary paid by the Agency).

• 30 days of annual leave.
• Compulsory medical insurance.
* DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
(i) knowledge of UN policies and procedures;
(ii) Knowledge of Hebrew language.
(i) Possession of a valid driving license and ability to drive in Jerusalem;
(ii) Good knowledge of the Field geography;
(iii) The incumbent will be required to work beyond regular working hours;
(iv) Training in the use of communications equipment.
Equivalency may apply for this post.
When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the Director of Human Resources may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications and progressive relevant work experience.
NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.
