Short term Consultancy for conducting ToT and development of training module on:

Mental Health and Psychosocial counselling, Life-Skills, Case management/Referrals, and Child Protection

Location: Erbil governorate -KRI

Founded in 1991, Secours Islamique France (SIF) is a non-governmental organization for international solidarity with a social and humanitarian mission with a presence in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe, Secours Islamique France assists the people through its emergency aid, development and orphan sponsorship programs in over 30 countries wherever humanitarian and social needs exist, without regard to race, religion or gender.

SIF aims to commence an integrated project in Iraq aimed at providing cash assistance to Orphans and their families to support their education. The project has already conducted the baseline assessment of the targeted beneficiaries and geographical areas. In addition to monthly cash transfers, the beneficiaries (including Orphan children and their families) will be provided Psychosocial counselling and support and life skills training to cope with real-life situations. In order to improve their prospects of income generation, the beneficiary families will also receive livelihood (vocational) & entrepreneurship training under the proposed project. 


The objectives of this assignment are

  • To conduct Training of Trainers for SIF project team of (8 people) on following topics to enable them to provide specific knowledge and skills required for successful implementation of the project
    • Mental Health and Psychosocial support counselling
    • Concepts of child protection and upholding/advocating for children’s rights
    • Case Management and Referral Mechanism
    • Life skills on the following topics :
  • Reproductive Health
  • Healthy lifestyle/living healthy
  • Keeping Good hygiene/ disease prevention
  • Stress Management
  • Understanding emotions/ managing feelings
  • Communicating in Difficult Situations
  • Communicating Well
  • Self Confidence
  • Problem Solving
  • Parenting skills
  • Decision Making
  • Personal Safety/Online safety
  • Helping to Support the family
  • Reducing early Marriage


Training time: starting from (8:30 – to 4:30 pm)

Duration of training as follow:

  • Psychosocial Support/counselling: 2 days
  • Child Protection/Children Rights: 1 day
  • Case Management and Referral Mechanism: 1 day
  • Life-Skills: 3 days

Location: Erbil (venue to be confirmed)

  • To develop the knowledge base and resources for the including training module, guidelines and training presentations on above-mentioned topics which can be used during project implementation

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES In consultation with Project Officer and based on the findings of the baseline assessment, the Consultant will:

  • Propose and finalize various topics which are relevant for psychosocial counselling and support, Life skills for beneficiaries and Child protection.
  • Submit a training plan for ToT on Psychosocial counselling and support, life skills and child protection and case management/referral mechanism.
  • Design and develop and submit training material (guidelines, training presentations) and training module(s) on Psychosocial Counseling and support, life skills, and Child protection in the English Language. Conduct Training of Trainers for SIF Program Team on child protection, life skills and Psychosocial counselling and support to SIF;
  • Develop technical and methodological tools related to PSS and life skills for sessions and activities.
  • Submit a final report of the assignment (which should include the details of training contents, modules developed, participants, methodology, Learning and recommendations) in the English Language.



  • Ability to observe agreed timelines
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills;
  • Previous experience of developing modules and conducting training
  • Strong research and analytical skills

Post-graduate or graduate studies in clinical psychology or related topic


  • Previous experience in conducting capacity building activities ToT and developing of training modules
  • Good technical knowledge of Child Protection and child rights issues in line with SIF’s standards;
  • Experience in providing services to displaced populations, migrants, refugees or conflict-affected populations;
  • Good technical knowledge of Child Protection and child rights issues

Experience of working with Government and/or international organizations.
