The Department of Public Health Sciences has an exciting opportunity for a Full-time Research Associate 3 to work on the UHealth Campus. The Research Associate 3 assumes responsibility for the design and performance of research focused on the development of novel experimental therapies for human malignancies. The incumbent contributes to collaborations with scientists within the University of Miami or elsewhere. Moreover, this individual works as part of a team and assists with the maintenance of laboratory equipment, protocols, and supplies. The Research Associate 3 will split their time between two research projects: NIDA Clinical Trials Network Studies (CTN): CTN-0080— Medication treatment for Opioid use disorder in expectant Mothers (MOMs); and CTN-0097– Surmounting Withdrawal to Initiate Fast Treatment with Naltrexone (SWIFT), under the Department of Public Health Sciences and Tele-Harm Reduction for Rapid Initiation of Antiretrovirals in People who Inject Drugs: a Randomized Controlled Trial, a NIDA Avenir-funded study under the Department of Medicine.

  • Conduct onsite and remote quality monitoring, support, and consultation on clinical research studies. Remote quality monitoring activities may require travel.

  • Write reports of findings from quality monitoring activities

  • Communicate quality-related findings and recommendations to study Investigators and teams

  • Make recommendations to Investigators and study teams for preventive and corrective actions to address quality findings and implementation challenges

  • Provide training/coaching to research team members on topics related to quality of data/documentation, good research practices, regulatory compliance, and other research-related topics, as assigned.

  • Conduct project management on active clinical research studies

  • Lead research team meetings/calls to review study performance, identify barriers, and problem-solve to address study implementation issues, such as participant recruitment and retention

  • Prepare IRB submissions for new and ongoing research studies, as needed

  • Provide general support and consultation to research teams at the University of Miami and remote research sites on topics related to protocol compliance, regulatory compliance, and study implementation

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, 2 years clinical research experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of the ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Guidelines

  • Familiarity with IRB (Institutional Review Board) submission process

  • Ability to communicate complex/detailed information clearly and accurately, verbally and in writing

  • Skill in managing team meetings and calls
