EnCompass LLC is seeking a Transcriptionist to support transcribing recordings of key informant interviews and focus group discussions for the Jamaica CPC endline. We are looking for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and can manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
The position will be based in Jamaica and will work virtually.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
1. Orientation to the project
Meet with relevant project staff to understand responsibilities as a consultant, and tools to be used during the consultancy
2. Transcribe key informant interviews
Listen to recordings of key informant interviews, interpret and transcribe them, translating any industry-specific jargon into long-form text using a provided list of acronyms and terms, and highlighting places in the transcription where the recording is unclear, informing members of the evaluation team when transcriptions are complete, including contacting the interviewer to review completed transcripts. Maintain active and clear communication with evaluation team about the status of transcriptions.
3. Transcribe focus group discussions
Listen to recordings of focus group discussions, interpret and transcribe them, translating any industry-specific jargon into long-form text using a provided list of acronyms and terms, and highlighting places in the transcription where the recording is unclear, informing members of the evaluation team when transcriptions are complete, including contacting the interviewer to review completed transcripts. Maintain active and clear communication with evaluation team about the status of transcriptions.
4. Other Tasks as needed **
Attendance of ad hoc and team meetings and other tasks to support the implementation of the project
- Minimum of high school diploma
Experience and Skills
- Minimum of one year of experience providing transcription services
- English proficiency required; Jamaican Patois proficiency is strongly preferred
