The Technische Universität Kaiserslautern and the Landau Campus of the University of Koblenz-Landau are merging into one new technical university. We are looking for you to help us shape our new university from 2023 at the Kaiserslautern site.
The Technische Universität Kaiserslautern (TUK) is an internationally visible research university with a profile in the natural and engineering sciences. Fundamental research at the university is conducted predominantly in six collaborative research centers and transregional research centers. The ten research departments at the university collaborate closely in their work on important areas of application-oriented research. The TUK is a campus university with short distances and a strong focus on cooperations.

We are seeking:
An internationally recognized individual who can represent Experimental Physics at the TU Kaiserslautern in both research and teaching and who will also establish and lead an appreciably application-oriented group at the Fraunhofer ITWM in the Department of Materials Characterization and Testing. The ability to cooperate within the department and the Fraunhofer ITWM is expected.
The Department of Physics is centrally involved in four collaborative research centers (SFB 926, SFB/TRR88, SFB/TRR173, SFB/TRR185) and the state research center OPTIMAS. Willingness and ability to participate in coordinated research programs at the site are also required. The development of new concepts for coordinated research projects is desired.
Potential research areas include:
- Optical metrology with entangled photons / with squeezed light
- Quantum spectroscopy and quantum imaging
- Sources and detection techniques for quantum metrology
- Frequency conversion in and interaction with matter
Teaching of courses in the degree programmes of the Department of Physics is also required. In particular, candidates will be expected to offer courses in the areas of TechnoPhysics and Master Advanced Quantum Physics. In addition to appropriate scientific qualifications, applicants are expected to have didactic skills and teaching experience.
Our requirement profile:
Further requirements are a completed university degree in the natural sciences, a doctorate, above-average publication achievements as well as successful acquisition of third-party funding, including through industry cooperations.
The Federal State of Rhineland-Palatinate and the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern advocate a guidance and support concept that necessitates a strong presence of teachers at their respective university location. In addition to the general contractual requirements, the employment conditions of § 49 of Rhineland-Palatinate’s State Law on Universities and Colleges also apply.
