Time to Step Up the #MDGMomentum

When the world mobilizes, incredible progress is possible.  The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), eight anti-poverty goals set by governments and the United Nations in 2000, have improved the lives of millions of people.  On Monday, the UN released a new report detailing the progress made to date on the MDGs and the work that remains ahead.  For example:

Extreme poverty rates have been cut in half since 1990, but one in eight people in the world still go to bed hungry.

In the past two decades, more than 2 billion people have gained access to clean drinking water, but today 2.5 billion people still don’t have access to basic sanitation.

While enrollment in primary education has reached 90 percent in developing regions, 57 million children still aren’t in school.

With less than 1,000 days until the 2015 target date to achieve the MDGs, now is the time for everyone – from governments to businesses to individuals – to step up our efforts to change lives.

Share this video to let your friends and families know that we can make a difference by supporting the MDGs and pushing for more #MDGMomentum.
