Take Action Tuesday: Google Hangout with Adolescent Refugee Girls

Imagine being forced to leave your home and everything you know to seek protection in a refugee camp. Now imagine having to start over in a new country where the language, the people and the culture are foreign to you.

A group of awesome refugee girls who came to the United States from several different countries will be discussing some of these challenges and more with our Teen Advisors tomorrow, June 27 from 11 a.m. CT/12 p.m. ET.

We will hold a Google Hangout – which allows multiple people to video chat at once – and we’d like to invite YOU to join the conversation! You can even ask questions as you watch.

We met these girls through the nonprofit GirlForward. Based in Chicago, GirlForward provides adolescent refugee girls with individual mentorships, educational programs and leadership opportunities.

Through their own perseverance and with the support of GirlForward, these girls have braved challenging circumstances to become fabulous leaders. We are inspired by their courage. Our Google Hangout will now be streamed live on the Girl Up Google+ profile.

Tune in to watch a conversation between girls here in the United States and girls from countries such as Iraq, Nepal, Tanzania and others.  We know this will be an eye-opening conversation, and we hope you’ll join us!
