FEDARENE, the European network of energy agencies and regions, offers in its Brussels office: 6-month internship as EU Policy assistant, Starting date September 2025. Only students able to provide a traineeship agreement from a university or similar organisation (Erasmus+, Eurodyssey, etc.) will be selected.
We are currently offering a Policy Assistant Internship designed to provide meaningful work experience in European policy-making, advocacy, and project implementation.
Main Missions
Under the supervision of FEDARENE’s Policy Officer, the intern will:
- Monitor policy developments at the European level in areas relevant to FEDARENE’s priorities;
- Conduct research and analysis of EU legislative initiatives, policy trends, and institutional developments;
- Draft policy briefs, strategic notes, and content for internal and external communication;
- Assist in preparing advocacy materials and participating in policy-related events and meetings;
- Support the organisation of events such as workshops, webinars, and stakeholder consultations;
- Support the implementation of tasks under EU-funded projects, especially those with a policy focus.
Qualifications
Required Profile
- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in European Studies, Political Science, Environmental Policy, or a related field;
- Excellent written and spoken English (minimum level C1), with strong writing and summarising abilities;
- Interest in EU policy-making, with a willingness to learn about EU legislative and decision- making processes;
- A demonstrated interest in energy and climate topics; prior experience is considered an asset;
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with attention to detail;
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
Additional Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with the functioning of EU institutions and legislative procedures;
- Previous involvement in student organisations, internships, or projects related to energy, climate, or policy;
- Working knowledge of other EU languages, particularly French;
- Understanding of regional perspectives on the energy transition.
