Role:
- The program coordinator contributes to the implementation and development of Solidarités International strategy by proposing sector-based strategies for the whole activities.
- He/she specifically the guarantor of the quality and suitability of proposed technical approaches and ensures the appropriateness between SI’s activities and general objectives and needs of the population.
- He/she coordinates the project cycle and more particularly the operational monitoring of programs implemented in the intervention country.
- He/she contributes to the capitalization process and the improvement of Solidarités International methods and techniques.
Main Responsibilities:
- Day to day management of the emergency response
- Strategic orientation.
- Relevance and quality of projects.
- Coordination, technical support and operational monitoring.
- Capitalization.
- Personnel management.
- Reporting/communication/representation.
- Financial backer relations/search for funding.
- Internal and external communication.
- Representation.
The main challenges:
- Ability to work and lead a team in conditions of insecurity, high stress and difficult living conditions.
- Substantial experience of working in conflict zones, involving team management and high levels of insecurity.
SECURITY CONSTRAINTS:
Security constraints are very high in Gaza, with a context marked by high-intensity military activities including air strikes, land and naval bombardments, as well as risks associated with medium and light infantry weapons. Social tensions are also very high, linked to the war, difficult living conditions and the collapse of economic activity, leading to looting, inter-family dispute as well as criminal acts.
Your profile:
Education/academic background:
- Master Degree in humanitarian/development studies, social sciences, management or other related discipline.
- Experience in the humanitarian sector : +5 years
- Experience on a similar position : 0-2 years
Specific skills:
Technical skills
- Sound understanding in project cycle management (specifically MEAL and project development).
- Ability to lead the process of program development.
- Coordination among internal departments to ensure quality and timely implementation.
- Strong networking skill with external entities (donors, clusters, other NGOs).
- Capacity to develop rapid understanding of country humanitarian context.
- Good analytical skills and proactive, solution-oriented approach to work.
- Experience in protracted crisis context (being able to switch between short/medium/long term solutions).
- Pack MS Office – excellent mastery of Excel included. GIS desirable.
Transversal skills
- Proven experience as an organized team and people manager.
- Strong initiatives and improvisation capacities.
- Capacity to adapt and show organizational flexibility
- Good stress management.
- Important flexibility and adaptability.
- Experience working with SI (or a similar organization) is an asset.
- Prior experience in Palestine would be considered as an asset.
Language:
- Fluent in English, written and spoken. Arabic is an asset.
