KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education, training, license, registration, and/or Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, Sustainable Development, Agriculture, Economics, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is an asset.

 

Required Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing and implementing livelihood or economic recovery programs, preferably in post-conflict or fragile settings.
  • Proven experience in green livelihoods, renewable energy integration, or environmentally sustainable business development.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including youth, women, returnees, and persons with disabilities.
  • Familiarity with UNDP or other UN agency projects and donor-funded programming.
  • Strong background in mentoring, coaching, and capacity building of local actors and beneficiaries.

 

Required Language (s):

  • Fluency in Arabic (spoken and written).
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written).

Required travel and/or work environment accommodations

  • The position is based in Mosul.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within Ninewa Governorate and Sinjar District, including rural and field locations.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and occasionally high-pressure environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and field conditions.

 

Position’s physical requirements:

  • Ability to conduct field visits in rural/agricultural settings, which may involve walking on uneven terrain and exposure to outdoor conditions.
  • No specific physical limitations, but reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities

 

Preferred Experience, Knowledge and/or other Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in green economy, renewable energy integration, and environmentally sustainable livelihoods.
  • Experience in implementing vocational training and business support programs in fragile or post-conflict settings.
  • Familiarity with market assessments and designing demand-driven training curricula.
  • Strong understanding of gender-sensitive programming and inclusive economic development.
  • Knowledge of occupational safety and health standards, especially in vocational and small business contexts.
  • Experience working with UNDP or similar donor-funded projects, including reporting and compliance.
  • Proficiency in project cycle management, including planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multicultural teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and quality assurance.
  • Commitment to principles of conflict sensitivity, social cohesion, and community empowerment.
