SECONDED NATIONAL EXPERT- JOB PROFILE
Occupational Health and Safety Officer
(Strategy, Planning and Quality Office/ Capabilities Directorate)
Tasks and responsibilities:
Line management reporting to HoO.PLAN, and functional reporting to the Senior
Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) Officer and under the supervision of the Senior OSH
Officer, the main duties related to this position are:
Consulting on and contribution to implementation of activities related to:
OSH risk assessments and identification of preventive and protective measures
OSH accident/incident investigation and reporting
Assessment of workplaces in host countries
Integration of OSH in the provision of information, instructions, and training
Consultation and participation of workers and their representatives on OSH
OSH cooperation, coordination and information exchange when sharing workplaces
Organization of OSH help desk
Organization of the immediate OSH response (First aid, firefighting, and
evacuation of workers, serious and imminent danger)
Organization of health surveillance
OSH management work equipment (acquisition – procurement)
OSH management collective and personal protective equipment (acquisition –
procurement)
Functional management of deployed basic level OSH practitioners (assistance to
Senior OSH Officer)
Selection criteria:
Professional qualifications, competencies and experience required:
Essential:
Knowledge of national and the EU regulatory framework on safety and
health
Professional experience in operational safety and health risk assessment
and the identification of preventive and protective measures in an
operational setting
Professional experience in OSH incident or accident investigation
Good understanding of System Safety Management
Good experience and understanding of operational activities in the context
of border management and law enforcement, or alternatively, the
equivalent in the context of armed forces or civil protection services
Assets:
An OSH practitioner degree or certificate
