As of November 2023, UN Women is implementing the EU-funded Project “Ending Violence, Expanding Livelihood Opportunities for Women and Accelerating Gender Governance in Moldova (EVOLVE4GE project). The EVOLVE4GE project aims to address critical gender inequalities and key challenges women and girls face in the country such as: lack of gender-responsive policies and budgets; uneven participation, contribution and benefit of women and men from the national economy; high prevalence of gender-based violence and limited availability and access to specialist services. As part of its strategic approach, the EVOLVE4GE project places strong emphasis on communications and visibility.
Context

Placing women”s rights at the center of all its efforts, UN Women leads and coordinates United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It provides strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States” priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors.
Communications is a key component of UN Women Moldova Country Office’s work and constitutes a vehicle for ensuring visibility for successful UN Women Moldova initiatives, results, and programmes as well as for raising awareness about key issues of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Within this scope, UN Women Moldova Country Office is looking for up to 5 Online Volunteers to support the Communications Specialist for the EU-funded EVOLVE4GE Project.
Key Responsibilities
UN Women Moldova is seeking up to 5 Online Volunteers to support the EU-funded EVOLVE4GE Project in strengthening online/public messaging on gender equality and prevention of gender-based violence (GBV). Under the guidance of the Communications Specialist, Online Volunteers will write, review, and edit communication materials in Romanian, Russian, and English.
The assignment will include drafting concepts and generating creative ideas for communication initiatives, preparing and editing articles, human-interest stories, reports, and content for the web and social media, as well as reviewing and improving translations between Romanian, Russian, and English. The assignment will also involve editing and proofreading up to five products per week to ensure accuracy, clarity, style, and the consistent use of gender-sensitive and inclusive language, as well as drafting and editing subtitles for videos.
The expected deliverables are high-quality, gender-sensitive communication products submitted in the agreed formats, such as Word documents or Google Docs, within the established deadlines.
Required Skills and Experience
-Proven experience in writing and editing in Romanian, Russian, and/or English (native-level fluency in at least one).
-Attention to detail, grammar, and inclusive language.
-Understanding of ethical considerations in depicting sensitive topics.
-Familiarity with gender equality and GBV topics is an asset.
