A day in the life of a Deputy Country Director:

In the role of Deputy Country Director, you will have the opportunity to:
- Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
- Assist the Country Director (CD) in creation, articulation, and dissemination of team vision and strategy.
- Provide leadership, management, and strategic insight for all programmatic aspects of country office, including possible future donor awards and internal funding.
- Work with the Program Development Officer, Finance Manager, and Program Managers to ensure all grants, awards, and internally funded programs are implemented according to the Program Management guidelines and Field Operating guide.
- Supervise and provide accountability and direction for programs operated through partners and churches.
- Ensure compliance with government and donor regulations.
- Improve the systematization and standardization of grants management in accordance with the country-level strategy.
- Provide identification, documentation, and phased implementation of best practice for sector specific and general program management, and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems.
- Monitor humanitarian issues, perform field assessments, and advise CD of response options.
- Ensure that relationship with clusters and other coordination bodies are strong.
- Act as Officer in Charge in the absence of the CD.
- Host VIP trips, including media personnel, government officials, dignitaries, and IHQ visitors.
- Represent Samaritans Purse to journalists and media outlets when needed.
- Serve as a spiritual leader for IFS and national staff.
- All other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises 3-5 employees and assumes Country Director responsibilities when the Country Director is not present.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active, multiple-entry U.S. visa required.
- Bachelors degree in International Affairs/Development, Politics, or related field and four (4) years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters degree preferred.
- Experience with WFP, IOM, and USAID funded programming preferred.
- Two years of experience in a supervisory role strongly preferred.
- Experienced in cross-cultural team leadership preferred.
- Extensive field humanitarian experience in a management role strongly preferred.
- Experience in financial and administrative coordination preferred.
- 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.
- Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required).
