Overview

The Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme invites Civil Society Organisations (Non-Governmental Organisations, Community Based Organisations, Cooperative Societies), Academic and Research Institutions to submit project proposals that promote and support innovative, inclusive and scalable initiatives, that improve the recognition and overall effectiveness for biodiversity conservation, sustainable livelihoods and resilience to climate change effects of territories and areas conserved by Indigenous Peoples and local communities (IPs and LCs). The proposed initiatives should be designed to focus on biodiversity conservation in relation to the role of ICCAs as part of GBF 2030 Targets, specifically Target 3, Target 21, Target 22 and Target 23 within the selected landscapes (Makgadikgadi Wetland System, the Bobirwa Area and Panhandle of the Okavango Delta)

Submission Details

1. The proposals, including proof of registration, should be submitted via email with an email heading clearly marked “Call for GEF/SGP Proposal – Call for GEF/SGP Proposal – (ICCA-GSI) in Botswana” in a pdf format to sgpprocurement.bw@UNDP.org.

2. Proposals should reach the addresses specified above no later than 06 th March 2026, (1200hrs) Botswana Time. Late applications will not be accepted.
