ABOUT THE ETUI

The ETUI provides research and training support to the European trade union movement. The Brussels-based Institute conducts research into European issues of strategic importance for the world of labour and promotes education and training activities with the aim of enhancing the capacity of workers’ organisations to contribute to social dialogue and building a social Europe.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The ETUI is seeking an Education Officer for European Works Councils (EWC) Training Activities to join our team. Working within a dynamic, international environment and under the supervision of the Director of the Education Department, you will coordinate the ETUI’s EWC training provision and input. You will be responsible for designing tailor-made programmes and delivering training seminars while serving as a key expert for our partners and multinational companies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Expertise & Advisory: Deliver expertise to European Works Councils (EWCs), National Trade Union Confederations, European Trade Union Federations, and multinational companies;
  • Coordination & Networking: Coordinate the EWC resources and the network of the Education Department;
  • Training Design, Development and Delivering: Contribute to the design, organisation, development and delivering of training activities in the field of EWCs in partnership with National Trade Union Confederations, European Trade Union Federations, and multinational companies;
  • Strategy Implementation: Deliver, implement, and contribute to the implementation of the ETUI Education Strategy and programme;
  • Communication: Produce information and content related to activities, including articles, web content, and newsletters.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Reliable, well-organised, and a strong team player with excellent planning and coordination skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and work autonomously within budgetary constraints;
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and solve problems, dealing professionally with sensitive topics;
  • Ability to engage in commercial relationships with multinational companies.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Education: University level (Master’s degree) or equivalent by experience;
  • Experience: Practical experience in trade union education and/or adult education is a strong asset;
  • Languages: Fluency in English, working knowledge of French and knowledge of other languages is an asset;
  • Subject Matter: Knowledge of EWC and SE legislation and practice, as well as the trade union environment;
  • Tools: Proficiency in ICT tools (MS Office 365, including SharePoint and Teams).

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The ETUI offers a challenging role in a dynamic environment that bridges academic research and European policymaking. We provide a competitive salary and an attractive benefits package in line with qualifications and experience. The position is located in Brussels, though regular travel across Europe is required. Starting salary for Category A2 is € 6074 gross per month (based on full-time employment). The ETUI might consider hiring two persons on part-time contracts, Applicants may indicate their interests in a part-time position.
