Job Description Summary:
Reports directly to the Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting. This position provides management oversight of individual accountants that are responsible for Accounts Receivables, Billing/Invoicing, Collections, Bank Accounts, and Debt. Additionally, this position is responsible for Financial Analysis.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in accounting. A combination of education and relevant work experience may be substituted for the degree on a year for year basis.
Work Experience:

  • 3 years’ experience in accounting

  • Supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications
Work Experience:

  • Experience with fund accounting (GASB)

  • Public Accounting experience

  • CPA

Job Description

  • Directly supervise accountants responsible for reconciling and reporting financial data on behalf of the university. Set assignments, manage progress, and provide feedback regarding goals, priorities, and outcomes. Addresses any performance or personnel related concerns with the assistance of Director.

  • Analyze and approve financial transactions in Workday.

  • Assist departments with questions regarding accounting actuals and activity.

  • Assist in monitoring bank accounts.

  • Review and approve bank reconciliations

  • Completion of transfers and issuing checks, as needed.

  • Maintain proper balances in accounts and reconcile to the State ledgers.

  • Manage debt accounting, financial reporting and completion of debt payments.

  • Establish and maintain a system of effective financial controls to ensure the safeguarding of institutional resources.

  • Complete month-end, quarter-end and year-end close procedures.

  • Complete and analyze monthly systems and account reconciliations, including monthly State to system reconciliation for all Funds.

  • Collaborate with other departments (i.e. Budget, Student Accounting, Research Institute, KU Lawrence, Workday Systems Support, etc) in process improvements, analysis requests, etc.

  • Evaluate, identify and implement opportunities for improvement in processes and activities

  • Assist in PCI (payment card industry data security standards) compliance requirements and management of credit card processors at KUMC

  • Assist in the completion of annual audit requests and state request.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.

$75,000.00 – $115,000.00
