JOB DESCRIPTION

This role is responsible for the delivery of services and supports to programmes in South Korea and the transparent monitoring, quality, reporting, and evaluation of these services in order to successfully support the implementation of quality IB programmes, and elements of IB an IB Education. In doing so, the post holder must build and maintain relationships with representatives of at all levels at Offices of Education, as well as with leaders at the school level. This role is a critical partner across business units creating feedback and feedforward learning loops that support the IB’s overarching work within the country.

The successful incumbent will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance. This role is a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the effective management and enhancement of relationships with GDS, at the Offices of Education and school level.
  • Through understanding the needs of the South Korean market, this role would lead the design and implementation of localized educational solutions and services in partnership with the GDS to achieve joint goals.
  • Leverage thoroughly designed GDS support structures that can be flexibility applied locally in order to streamline onboarding and implementation of IB programmes in South Korea.
  • Develop and deliver, within profit and loss margins, a GDS market strategy for onboarding and implementation of IB programmes in South Korea authorization in line with the overarching organizational strategy.
  • Monitor school performance and provide tailored support to enhance programme delivery and implementation outcomes.
  • Monitor IB educator (IBEN) performance and provide support to enhance service delivery that strengthens outcomes for schools within the GDS and the GDS overall.
  • Evaluate implementation outcomes and continuously improve support models.
  • Propose and implement intervention strategies for schools within the GDS at risk of programme attrition.
  • Formally, responsibly, and ethically represent IB in all times.

The incumbent is also expected to:

  •  Effectively and efficiently lead the (co)development of answers to pressing problems and formulate and implement workable solutions that enhance and simplify the school and GDS journey.
  • Solve complex contextual problems that impact candidate programmes, schools, and the GDS. While this role will lead the solving of these problems, in general the solving of the problems cannot be completed in isolation and require an extremely high levels of collaboration across multiple departments and Offices.

This role also has/is

  • Managerial decision making power for authorization process of individual programmes, schools and the GDS as outlined in the key accountabilities.
  • Managerial decision making power for the full portfolio of schools.
  • A key strategic contributor to GDS and South Korean market leadership and the collective decisions made by the leadership team.
  • Works with a high degree of autonomy to localize IB offerings within a pre-defined contextual framework.

Requirements and Qualifications

About you:

Knowledge and experience
•    Master’s degree in education, business administration, operations, or similar with more than 8 years’ experience.
•    Familiarity with the key features of IB programmes and in depth experience with at least one IB programme. Experience as an educator, coordinator, member of the IB Educator Network preferred.
•    Familiarity with typical education systems and practices in public, private, and international school systems.
•    In depth knowledge of with the IB’s authorization process and the systems and supports used to implement the processes.
•    Impeccable written and oral communication skills in English and Korean.
•    Demonstratable knowledge and understanding of stakeholder/customer-based design and implementation.
•    Willingness to work flexibly and to travel as required.

Technical skills
•    CRM software: Understanding of Salesforce including reporting, dashboard construction, and data management.
