Who are we?
The British Embassy in Ankara is part of a worldwide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is looking for a Corporate Services Assistant to support its core business of the Corporate Service (CS) team members in managing their daily workload and act as a backup officer of the Finance, Government Relations and Customs Officers, and the Receptionist when required.
Under the supervision of the Deputy Corporate Services Manager, the Corporate Services Assistant will be responsible for performing routine duties, such as drafting and sending correspondence, providing customers with information, maintaining office files, and managing schedules.
Role and responsibilities:
Finance:
- Acting as backup Finance Officer for daily operations (e.g. Sending invoices to GTPC, drafting bank letters);
- Arranging the storage as needed;
- Following the direct debit invoices;
- Preparing invoices for Church, RLC and British Embassy School Ankara;
Customs & Protocol:
- Assisting in car transfers, customs declarations, vehicle checks, UAF and heavy baggage arrangements;
- Assisting Customs Officer with other tasks when required (i.e. activation of utility services, archiving, drafting takrirs and MFA letters etc.);
- Payment of utility bills;
- Clearance of diplomatic bags;
- Acting as backup Customs Officer.
Receptionist
- Covering reception, transport management and stationary duties in the receptionist”s absence or during busy times.
Other:
- Updating accommodation files;
- Other corporate services duties as assigned by the Line Manager.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
Our ideal candidate shows:
- Proficiency in English at B2 level and Turkish at a C1 including excellent written and spoken skills (under the Common European Framework of References for Languages*).
- Bachelor’s degree (Accounting (Office management, Customs, Logistics, International Trading), Finance, Business Administration, International Relations or other related departments);
- Valid and clean driving license (5+ years of driving experience is a must);
- Good writing skills;
- High motivation and energy;
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus;
- Numerate reliable and able to work under pressure and on own initiative following compulsory rules and procedures;
- Ability to pay attention to details;
- Self-starter and proactive;
- Fully conversant with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook);
- High level of organizational skills and ability to multi task and deliver high quality work to deadlines;
- Diplomacy and sensitivity when dealing with clients;
- High level of confidentiality;
- Ability to meet strict deadlines.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Nice to have:
- 1 year of experience in a similar job;
- Experience in an international working environment.

Other benefits and conditions of employment
This is a full-time permanent contract for 5 working days (36 hours and 15 minutes net) per week. Normal working hours are from Monday to Friday and from 08:45 to 17:00 but flexible depending on operational needs on the ground.
The monthly salary for this position is $1,786.00 USD gross, paid in 12 instalments, AA level. Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by local law.
All applicants should have the right to live and work in Türkiye. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits.

Staff recruited locally by the British Consulate General in Istanbul and the British Embassy in Ankara are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Turkish employment law.
