WE ARE

The Unit Resources Management and Internal Control aims at ensuring the effective management
and development of the human and financial resources of DG MENA, comprising staff in Brussels
and in EU Delegations in the MENA region. The Unit comprises five teams, dealing with strategic HR
management, budget, IT support, internal control and audit, and document management.

WE PROPOSE

Unit 01 of DG MENA is seeking to hire one/1 Budget Officer.

We offer a position of Budget Officer as part of a unit of highly responsible, motivated and
committed colleagues. The person will be responsible for coordinating the budget preparation
process, budgetary allocations, implementation and reporting procedures, using highly specialized
knowledge on Commission’s External Action and the financial and budget management systems.
The role requires teamwork, coordination and collaboration with staff in DG MENA and in
Delegations, service providers and with counterparts in DG BUDG and other External Action DGs, to
deliver a comprehensive service to DG MENA. The role is crucial for the smooth and timely
allocation and implementation of DG MENA’s budget, ensuring that resources are available and
implemented in a sound and efficient manner. We offer a stimulating working environment with

WE LOOK FOR

We are looking for a Budget Officer.

We are looking for a highly responsible, dynamic and motivated colleague, someone who is willing
to take on operational responsibility, with the following skillset and experience:

– Experience in EU’s External Relations (and/or in a Delegation) of at least 5 years is essential;
– Experience in Budget and Finance of at least 5 years is essential;

– Advanced knowledge of highly specialized Commission budget and financial management
systems (SUMMA/ABBAC, OPSYS, Dashboards and Excel/Pivot tables) is required;
– Knowledge of the Commission Financial regulation, Internal Rules, procedures for budgetary
allocations, monitoring and reporting is required;
– Good organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to
meet tight deadlines;
– Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling tasks, including data entry;
– Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with
stakeholders and colleagues at all levels;
– Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and multicultural environment, able to work
autonomously and as part of a team.
