WE ARE
The Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA) leads the European Commission’s efforts to

EU climate policies and strategies, so that the EU can turn into the first climate-neutral and climate
resilient continent by 2050.
Unit C1 implements the EU’s policies to protect the ozone layer and the climate against the adverse
effects of ozone depleting substances (ODS) and fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases). Next to
that, the unit is also in charge of following climate related aspects of energy, circular economy and
industrial policies. In this context we are the lead unit in DG CLIMA to contribute to a number of

products, starting with steel. The policy officer will also be involved in the development of a
coherent set of carbon footprint labels (for instance in the context of the further implementation of
the Construction Products Regulation or the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation), as well

be assigned to work on a number of these specific policies where he/she will need to develop DG
