Evidence and Case Officer

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in documentation, investigations, human rights, criminal justice, legal documentation, transitional justice, or related fields.
  • Experience conducting survivor or witness interviews is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with NGOs, UN agencies, or accountability mechanisms is an asset.

   

• Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Rights, International Relations, Political Science, Criminology, Social Sciences, or another relevant field.

• Training in documentation, investigations, human rights, or international criminal law is an advantage.

Preferred Skills

• Strong interviewing and communication skills.
• Knowledge of international crimes, including genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes.
• Familiarity with survivor-centred and trauma-informed approaches.
• Excellent analytical and organisational skills.
• Experience with documentation databases and evidence management systems.
• Strong report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Fluency in Shingali-Kurmanji, Arabic, and English (spoken and written). Knowledge of additional languages is an asset.
• Willingness to travel frequently to field locations and work in challenging environments.
