The Deputy Residence Manager plays a pivotal role in the successful delivery of approximately 500 high-level events annually at the Ambassador’s Residence, welcoming over 18,000 guests. Reporting to the Residence Manager and working in close coordination with the Public Diplomacy team and the Private Office, the Deputy is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of all Residence events. This includes official functions hosted by the Ambassador, Embassy-wide engagements, and externally sponsored events that promote British interests. The role also includes line management of the Residence Events Officer, ensuring that all events are delivered with precision, professionalism, and in alignment with the UK’s diplomatic objectives.

Please be informed this is an Internal only campaign: run at Post level, open to Country Based Staff employees and interns currently employed in the Post where the vacancy exists, spouses/partners of all UK-based staff (including PAGs) in Post.
This is a full-time, permanent position, of 35 working hours per week.
All appointments are subject to professional background checks and satisfactory security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to provide a copy of his/her passport or national identity card for all nationalities held, an up-to-date criminal record (casier judiciaire) for recent countries of residence (which can be obtained online at casier-judiciaire.justice.gouv.fr), two written proofs of address (utility invoices and/or bank statements) and two references.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in France are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local French employment law and FCDO guidance for Local Staff. The posts we offer are not an entry point into the UK’s Diplomatic Service.
