JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary
Applications are welcome from internal and external candidates. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the identification and prioritization of protection concerns of the affected population with the different sectors at the field level to support in protection mainstreaming within Renk response and operation.
- Participate in joint mobile missions with other sectors with a view to mapping out protection issues arising at a field level.
- Support the implementation of Protection and GBV project related activities, coordinate with the other sectors to achieve the intended protection outcomes for integrated projects and compile regular activity reports.
- Liaise and build partnerships with local leaders, chiefs, representative groups (women, youth, persons with disabilities etc), community leaders and other relevant actors to encourage participation in, support for and a better understanding of the program activities
- Assist in the collection and sharing of data relevant to the returnees and IDP, host community population and their protection concerns
- Contribute to the elaboration of work plans and support in implementation of protection program activities
- Compile reports on protection activities at the field level
- Support the Protection team in the organization and conducting of trainings and workshops on protection mainstreaming, Disability Inclusion, AAP, PSEA and other protection-related material
- Support in capacity building of staff especially the protection outreach workers at the field level on Protection Mainstreaming, Disability Inclusion, AAP and PSEA of staff engaged in the POCs and in the mobile teams and working jointly with sector units to monitor for protection mainstreaming.
- Conduct regular field visits and general monitoring visits to returnees, and internally displaced persons (IDP) to identify protection concerns and persons with specific needs (PSNs) and work closely with other protection partners to ensure that their needs will be addressed including identification of protective community structures especially in the hard-to-reach areas where IOM operates.
- Support safe and dignified referrals of those in need of assistance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Social Sciences, Psychology, Development Studies from an accredited academic institution with at least three years of relevant professional experience; or,
- High school diploma with at least three years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Experience in protection and emergency programming including protection monitoring.
- Previous work experience in Renk is an added advantage
- Good experience in collecting data in relation to services provided and received.
- Working experience with local authorities and partners in provision of services to people affected by displacement
- Experience and ability working in difficult locations for extended periods of time.
Skills
- Excellent organizational skills withthe ability to support multipletasks simultaneously under time constraints.
- Good report writing and analytical skills.
- Good computer skills: knowledge of MS Word, Excel and email/internet software.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust with affected communities, government counterparts, humanitarian partner organizations.
Languages
- Fluency in English (oral and written).Working knowledge of Arabic
