We are looking for a full time or part time (0.8 Full Time Equivalent) Senior Policy Officer, Deforestation who will advocate for a full and speedy implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation. 

Main responsibilities:

The Senior Policy Officer will play a key role in delivering WWF’s engagement on the EU Deforestation regulation (EUDR) which entered into force in June 2023. The person will work in close collaboration with the WWF EPO Manager on Forests and will develop and implement WWF EU’s advocacy action related to this key EU legislation. Moreover, the person will guide and coordinate the WWF network which supports an effective implementation at EU Member States level.

What you need:

Required Qualifications and skills:

  • Advanced technical or university degree or post-graduated with more than five years’ experience or relevant work-related experience;
  • In depth knowledge of European institutions and understanding of the complexities of EU legislation and its implementation at EU and/or national level;
  • Excellent lobby and advocacy experience and presentation skills;
  • Effective collaboration: excellent skills at networking and engagement in diversity and inclusion and taking action for personal development;
  • Flexible time management: effective prioritisation of tasks and resource management oriented towards a clearly defined goal. Skills to coordinate different activities and monitor progress and completion of tasks;
  • Impactful communication: active listening and empathy skills, providing constructive feedback, excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Strategic and analytical thinking: excellent lobby and advocacy experience and presentation skills;
  • Inspiring leadership: leading by showing the example and holding themselves accountable;

Remuneration package:

WWF European Policy Office offers an indefinite contract and a competitive package of pay and other benefits.

The indicative base salary range for this role would be between 3.900 € – 4.500 € gross per month (on a full-time basis), with the final figure depending on the skills, competencies and experience of the successful candidate.

WWF European Policy Office also offers a range of additional benefits, including allowances for lunch, public transport, flexible and hybrid working conditions, health insurance, pension plan, paid holiday and additional month of pay in accordance with Belgian law.
