About the Role
You will seek a passionate and driven professional to contribute to India’s transition to a just, inclusive, and sustainable economy. As a Senior Program Associate – Economics of Climate and Green Growth, you will help balance sustainability with economic growth through research and policy development.
- Lead Research & Modelling: Contribute to energy-economy models, sectoral roadmaps, and policy scenarios that inform low-carbon strategies at national or subnational levels;
- Solve Complex Climate Challenges: Use data-driven insights to develop innovative solutions for just transitions, industrial decarbonization, and climate resilience;
- Translate Research into Action: Deliver high-quality publications that provide clear, applicable recommendations for policymakers and industry leaders;
- Engage with Partners: Collaborate with government agencies, industry leaders, think tanks, and civil society to co-create scalable climate solutions.
How your day will unfold
Research & Modelling
- Contribute to the development and co-creation of alternate climate policy scenarios for India at national or subnational levels, with relevant partners. Interpret and analyse results in the context of low-carbon development pathways for India;
- Contribute to quantitative research including development of sectoral decarbonization roadmaps, policy analysis, and thematic studies on topics related to energy transition economics.
Publications & Experience
- Produce high-quality research publications, policy briefs, blogs and articles that translate research into clear insights;
- Help develop new ideas, frameworks, tools and research methods to track and strengthen climate action planning and corporate climate action in India;
- Stay up to date with latest trends and policy landscape and sectoral developments about climate policy.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate engagement with partners through roundtables, seminars, workshops, policy dialogues, training, and other communication and outreach activities.
What We’re Looking For
- Postgraduate degree in climate science, economics, public policy, engineering, statistics, environmental planning, or a related field;
- 4-7 years of experience in energy-economy modelling, climate policy, emissions modelling, or sustainability research;
- Experience leading research publications and policy briefs;
- Hands-on experience in quantitative analysis, economic modelling, and scenario planning;
- Proficiency in tools like R, Python, STATA, Vensim, STELLA, QGIS/ArcGIS;
- Exceptional analytical, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to simplify technical concepts for diverse audiences.
