JOB DESCRIPTION

I. Background:

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

In an approach to strengthen gender strategic planning within operations of public and non-profit organizations and of partners from the private sector, the UN Women Country Office in Morocco is seeking to recruit a consultant who will conduct a scoping and budgeting exercise, aimed to support a technical partner to engage into a Gender Analysis process.

The consultant will report to the UN Women Programme Management Specialist and will be supported by the UN Women HR focal point, who will be the point of contact on contractual and payment issues.

II. Description of Responsibilities/ Scope of Work

Based on the area of intervention of the technical partner, the consultant will be responsible for developing a detailed budgeted and time-bound action plan that will support the launch and conduct of a Gender Analysis, based on an informed approach.

The detailed budgeted workplan needs to consider the following key phase/component of the Gender Analysis approach:

  • Analysis of scope and specific needs
  • Definition of selection criteria for representative sample programmes to assess
  • Identification of most relevant methodology.ies, including different data collection approaches and tools
  • Context analysis, benchmarks and recommendations
  • Identification of expertise

The budgeted action plan to prepare the launch of the Gender Analysis will be supported by a detailed timeline for each phase/component of the Gender Analysis process

Consultant’s Workplace and Official Travel

This is a home-based consultancy.  As part of this assignment, there will be no travel.

IV. Required Qualifications

Education and Certification:

  • A Master”s degree or equivalent in political science, economics, social sciences, international relations, law, management, gender or other development-related fields is required
  • A First-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • At least 7 years of experience in supporting international organizations and national institutions in integrating gender into their projects/programs is required.
  • Experience in leading at least two Gender Audit and/or Gender Sectoral Analysis is required
  • Experience in leading at least one analysis related to gender issues in the Moroccan context is required

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and in French is required.
  • Knowledge of any other UN official language (Arabic) is an asset.
