UNDP is providing technical support to Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) to implement the Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Power System Expansion Project Off-grid Component. SASEC is promoting 4.3 MW mini-hydropower projects (MHP) and 0.5MW Solar/Solar-Wind Hybrid Minigrids (SMG) to increase access to electricity in rural areas for improving the livelihoods of people by promoting economic activities.
One of the activities under Output 1 includes budget for O&M support of mini hydro projects in which repair and maintenance of Simrutu Mini Hydro Prower project. The project has been suffering with frequent repair and maintenance issues and the plant suffers frequent shutdown time and again. Hence, With this support, the plant will be rehabilitated and expected to operate in smooth and sustainable mode.
The main objective of the assignment is Rehabiliation of Simrutu mini hydropower project, Rukum West, Karnali.
